April 2008
Spring has been slow coming this year but our first race went off as scheduled on April 20.
Volunteers have been busy working on the track. Early season projects started on or competed are a permanent awning over the staging area, concrete base in the gate area, brush clearing, lines painted on the start hill, and of course preparing the track itself.
Also, our wonderful webmaster, Amanda has been working hard to update our website. The track operators, Mark and Kris, now have a blog on the website, your feedback is welcome.
Kris and Karen have been diligently working with the new moto-make software to ensure that everything runs smoothly on race days.
Central Wisconsin BMX has been working with the Wisconsin Rapids Convention and Visitors Bureau and have submitted a bid to the ABA for a national event for 2009. We should be notified by June 1, 2008. keep your fingers crossed.
As you can see we have been busy and now it is time to start racing.
See you at the track --- John Bingham, President
NEWS ARCHIVES October 2007 Central Wisconsin BMX Club just completed its’ most successful season in it’s’ history. Our rider count, moto count and revenue all broke previous track records. The season was highlighted by our hosting the State Championship Final on September 9, 2007. This event surpassed all records with a total of 274 riders and 53 motos. The Saturday evening race, which was possible because of the installation of lights, had 200 riders and 44 motos. There were other major improvements this past year besides the lighting project. A professionally designed sign was erected at the entrance to the track and the concession/registration building had an awning attached. Central Wisconsin BMX Club is not successful without YOU, the riders and your parents and pit crew. Also, the many volunteers that gladly give of their time to enhance our facility. The Board of Directors for Central Wisconsin BMX Club thanks everyone for making this the most successful season in our history!
John Bingham President
June 2007 Central Wisconsin BMX held its state qualifier on Sunday, June 24 along with a double point’s race on Saturday, June 23. Riders from throughout Wisconsin (find Kansasville on the map!) and from Illinois and Michigan were in attendance. On Sunday 197 riders in 43 motos enjoyed a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the track. The day went off without a serious crash or controversy. The Central Wisconsin BMX staff realizes that none of this happens without the cooperation of many people. We would like to thank the riders and their “pit crews”, the many volunteers, The Wisconsin Rapids Fire Dept. EMTs, and especially the individuals who put in long hours to prepare the track and facility. Central Wisconsin BMX continues to prosper with the support of each and every rider and their family. May 2007 May has brought more showers than flowers to CWBMX. We had a rained out track on May 13. We hosted the boy scouts for there annual ride of the track. Also the new lighting system has been completed and is now in working order! April 2007 April brought us a freakish snowstorm and a period of cold weather. But in spite of these obstacles, Central Wisconsin BMX is ready for the New Rider Seminar on April 21 and Opening Day of racing on April 22. Temperatures are expected near 70! With an outstanding effort by many volunteers, the track is ready for racing. This past week of moderate temperatures has really helped us out. In addition, the awning in front of the Concession/Registration building was completed, light poles erected for the new lighting system and a new sign erected. It looks like a beautiful weekend for the New Rider Seminar which will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday April 21! March 2007 Racing at Central Wisconsin BMX is fast approaching. We had a record breaking year in 2006. We look forward to another outstanding year! Your board has been meeting all winter and following are several projects that are being planned for 2007:
